On January 20, 2016, Europe’s leading power market has changed its name to Nord Pool, 20 years after the first international power exchange was created under that very name.
The new name and associated branding seeks to reflect our expertise in the modern, innovative, European approach to simplifying a complex world that Nord Pool prides itself on.
Nord Pool operates Europe’s power markets, offering both day-ahead and intraday trading to its members. 380 companies from 20 countries trade on Nord Pool’s markets in the Nordic and Baltic regions, and on UK market N2EX. In 2015 the group had a total turnover of 489 TWh traded power.
